Top 3 keys to a successful family photo session.
If you’re like me, you’re dreaming of a family photo session full of belly laughs, hugs and kisses and genuine smiles so let’s talk about how to ensure those are the candid photos captured during your photo session.
Kids at any age can be a bit unpredictable and we can’t always control the mood they will be in. However, I’m here to tell you that regardless of how your kids show up, YOU are the key to making your family session a success.
Number one key to a successful family photo session:
The secret to a successful family photo session is loving and adoring your children no matter how they show up that day. Look at them like they are the cutest things in the world. Smother them with hugs and kisses. Look at your significant other like they hung the moon (even if you argued on the car ride over because you’re stressed because your son already has dirt on his pants and your daughter woke up cranky from a nap). Let it go and love on one another.
Number two key to a successful family photo session:
The number two key to a successful family photo session is, let me, the photographer do the directing. Throughout the session, I will be providing your family with gentle prompts, if your child does not follow my directions exactly that is OK the point of my guidance is to get your child acting natural and having fun in front of the camera so that we can capture those fun candid photos. If I say walk this way and they run full speed, let them. I’ll earn their trust by letting them have fun and get those wiggles out and then redirect. If I need you to help with redirection I’ll ask you, however, I find that kids do better when their looking to one person for guidance during the session.
Number three key to a successful family photo session:
Have fun! Take a deep breath when you get out of the car. You did it! You finally found a date that worked with everyone’s crazy schedules, got everyone dressed in perfectly coordinated outfits and worked your magic to get everyone here on time. It’s time to let go of the small stuff, let loose and have fun. Let me do the work!
That’s it! It’s simple really, but these three pointers will ensure that you will have a successful family photo session. I promise!
I CANNOT wait to work with you!! Let’s get ready to have some fun!!
