What to wear for your Family Photo Session.
So that photo session you booked in advance, the one that made you feel like you were on the ball when you booked it a few months in ago, it snuck up on you didn’t it? Now it’s next week and you have no idea what the whole family is going to wear. OR maybe you’re super on the ball and you booked the session in advance AND you are shopping for those outfits right away so that you are ultra prepared. If you’re the second person, I commend you, I am typically the first!
Here are a few quick tips on what to wear to your family photo session from a photographer’s point of view.
5 tips for coordinating family photo outfits:
1. Mom, choose your outfit first! You are most likely the one who cares the most about what everyone will wear so, focus on choosing something that makes you feel comfortable, beautiful and most like your authentic self.
2. Focus on coordinating/complimenting your outfit with your family, not matching.
3. Add a texture or pattern for interest.
4. Muted and bold are both great choices but make sure you choose one. If you choose a bold color put everyone in colors that stand with it. If you are in a neutral tone stick with more muted tones for everyone.
5. Make sure everyone is comfortable. Layer up in the colder months and dress as think cool loose and comfortable in the hot summer months.
Bonus: Add a fun accessory or two such as a trendy hat or an extra layer. These can add something a little different to a few photos and be removed for the rest.
